Hi everyone,
Because we've been having some people join and leave inappropriate comments all over the place I have now raised security and will personally approve all members as they join. The page is still open to anyone, but I will take time to hopefully keep the spammers out so we can continue to enjoy using the site.

I have been informed by Mike Wing that he has been able to take the Rail Runner to the Monday night dances in Santa Fe at the Oddfellows Hall.
He reports that there is a train station 1 block from the Oddfellows Hall, so it is very convenient.
Northbound trains arrive at 6:46 pm and 7:57 pm at the South Capitol Station. Southbound trains leave at 8:20 pm and 9:35 pm. So you can attend the class (or not) and still only miss the last 1/2 hour of the dance.…

Tonight is the first Friday night Swing and Blues Dance at Lloyd Shaw Dance Center! We'll be there (in the small room) from 9pm-12am. There's no lesson of any sort, just straight dancing for 3 hours. It's only $3 for the entire night. Come out and help us make this the first of many!
See you there!

Just a reminder that:

2. Mike's Santa Fe Sunday lindy lessons are canceled for the rest of the month of August and will resume Sept. 7th**.
3. Height's Community Center Tuesdays are canceled until at least Sept. 9th for floor work.

Looks like some great opportunities to groove to some live music this weekend and next. With multiple performances in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe the event is not to be missed!

Marisa and I found this little flier in Bumble Bee Bob's Cantina on Central for the
Route 66 Challenge.
The flier promotes it as
"the best in cowboy jazz." And also calls it "Count Basie on Horseback!" Who knows, but it looks interesting and might be worth checking out this Tuesday (05.20.08) as they pass through Albuquerque and play at Bumble Bee Bob's Cantina on Central.
There is no start time listed on the flier or their Web site. (

According to Zinc's Web site there will be live music tomorrow (Thursday). The artist listed is "Anne Marie RNB." We've haven't heard Anne Marie, that I know of yet, at Zinc but if she's singing R&B it should be good.
As mentioned before, the Cellar Bar isn't the largest of places to dance but the staff is use to us and doesn't mind when we push tables aside. Even then we can only fit 1-3 couples at a time depending on their movement. But with such great live music every week it's worth sque…

Gypsy and Western Swing that ABQ loves. Seriously. Good music for balboa, fast Charleston and fast lindy. Occasional slow song is thrown in as well.

Every Thursday a small group of us dancers head over to Zinc's cellar bar for live jazz or blues music. The group or soloist usually begins around 9:30pm and ends around 12:30am.
This Thursday, March 27, 2008, is the Kari Simmons group. We love them, they love us. They play a range of dance-able tunes and we'll probably be there all night long.
Zinc's cellar bar isn't the largest of dancing spaces and the floor is polished cement. But the staff there is very gracious and provides us with plent…

A few of us dancers have created a network for the dance community of Albuquerque. After too many emails of events we want to share with friends and no previously established Web site with all the up-to-date events in Albuquerque we've decided to lose sleep (and probably sanity) while keeping the local dancers informed of all that Duke City has to offer.
Those of us that maintain this site are primarily swing, lindy, blues, and balboa dancers. We are slowly branching out to tango and salsa and…
