Live Music Special Event! Ryan McGarvey will be playing at the bi-weekly blues dance party. It is in the large studio at Lloyd Shaw Dance Center, 9/25/09. Lesson from 8:30pm to 9:00pm. Dancing from 9:00pm to 12:30am. $12 ($10 for full-time students with ID). Lloyd Shaw is located at 5506 Coal Ave SE (east of San Mateo between Central and Zuni; not the one-way Coal). Brett D. Saturdays at Orpheum back on normal Schedule

We previously announced that the Saturday dance at Orpheum was going to be rescheduled for the next two weeks to the respective Sundays. This is no longer the case and the dance will take place at usual: every Saturday with a lesson from 7 - 8 PM and a dance from 8 - 11 PM. These dances have been really fun and extremely successful. Morgan Taking the A Train (to Santa Fe)

I have been informed by Mike Wing that he has been able to take the Rail Runner to the Monday night dances in Santa Fe at the Oddfellows Hall. He reports that there is a train station 1 block from the Oddfellows Hall, so it is very convenient. Northbound trains arrive at 6:46 pm and 7:57 pm at the South Capitol Station. Southbound trains leave at 8:20 pm and 9:35 pm. So you can attend the class (or not) and still only miss the last 1/2 hour of the dance.… Continue

Jimmy La~ R.B. Winnings Dances Cancel all together.

I attempted to contact the owners of R.B. Winnings all morning and to be very honest, it is almost impossible to re-schedule or even change an arrangement without payment consequences or being harassed by individuals. The next Winnings dance was set for December 12th which took a feat to accomplish but this will contradict with the Santa fe dance. Now you all know I am very adamant about combining our swing community together let alone the last thing I want to see is different events happening… Continue

Naomi AMAZING local band to dance to! The Robb Janov Quartet!

Last night several swing dancers gathered at Zinc and were blown away by this incredible band: The Robb Janov Quartet. They play mostly swing jazz from the 30's-40s, gypsy swing, and a lot of other fun music that's perfect for Lindy, Balboa, and Charleston. They'll be back at Zinc on Dec. 6th if you want to check them out (not much room, if any, for dancing there, but sometimes you can shuffle tables and make it work).
